He also delivered a speak to the United Way convention at Cobo Hall, imploring the non-profit community to continue their involvement in improving education. The United Way and the Skillman Foundation have been tremendous supporters of school reform, specifically high school redesign. I continue to be very encouraged by the dialogue around address failing schools. Their is general consensus that something needs to be done. The plan that Rep. Johnson and myslef have put forth is a step in the right direction. I look forward to continuing heaings on our plan throughout the month.
